The North Shore, MN

The pic below was taken at Palisade Head (No Chalk Area) North Shore, Northern Minnesota, U.S. in 18 Aug. 2002

According to the guide book: \"this route is named Superior Crack 5.8+; this climb may elicit more cursing per linear foot than any other route in this area. It is harder down low; prepare for a big swing if you fall.\"

The route was rated 5.8+ but everyone who climbed it agreed this route was more like 5.9+ ( including myself ); 85 degrees overhanging all the way up, 80-foot height, rappelling down from above is often the simplest solution.

照片裡著藍色上衣的是Dan,他rappelling至岩壁下方協助他的同伴上攀主繩
因為他同伴沒辦法完成這條名為Superior Crack 5.8+的路線
攀過這條路線的人都覺得這應該不止5.8
而且如果不慎落下,必須重新回到地面上攀
從照片裡可以很清楚的顯示這個crack其實是有點overhanging

這是我在八月中旬跟一群老美到North Shore, Minnesota攀岩的照片之一
這條路線其實應該是從左邊的crack攀起
當時我應老美的要求往右邊上攀
因岩壁上能讓手腳可以平衡的點實在是有限
於是就成了這樣的姿勢
接著我還得往左攀回原來的route哩!!!

這張是回到crack後我嘗試著以雙手抓著edge\"走\"上去的照片
這條路線的crack其實有兩個...
根據guide book上說是中間細細的那條...很容易上攀,所以是5.7
另一條則是我上攀的...呃...蠻花力氣的
不過如果手腳快一點的話,感覺倒是挺過癮的!!!

老實說那樣上攀挺累人的...
但為了讓老美看看台灣人的精神...
呃...很累也要裝著很輕鬆的樣子...
結果,沒半個人嘗試以我這樣的攀法來攀這條路線...
